STAMFORD, CT – June 21, 2005 – Protegrity Corporation, the leading data security management company, has appointed Dave Taylor as vice president of strategic services. Before joining Protegrity, Taylor was chief research officer of TheInfoPro (TIP), a technology research firm specializing in information security and other IT sectors. Taylor developed the company’s syndicated research processes, instruments, and methodologies. Taylor also worked for 14 years at Gartner, where he was group vice president of applications research.
At Protegrity, Taylor will be responsible for developing and managing a range of new data security service offerings, all with the goal of assisting organizations in meeting compliance and regulatory requirements, increasing security effectiveness and minimizing risks, prioritizing security-related spending, and protecting valuable data assets. The market need for such services has been highlighted in recent headlines reporting major data thefts. A Protegrity poll conducted in March 2005 revealed that 92% of technical and security professionals surveyed were concerned about their companies’ current ability to compliance requirements for data security.
“Dave brings to Protegrity extensive experience in all aspects of information security. He has spent years working directly with security officers and senior executives in Fortune 500 companies on a range of security-related research projects and consulting engagements,” said Gordon Rapkin, Protegrity CEO. “Many companies are still struggling to understand and apply security-related requirements. Our new service offerings will address these needs and provide our customers with the regulatory expertise and best practices to form cohesive and effective security strategies.”
Companies implement Protegrity’s solutions to centrally define and manage enterprise data security policies and comply with global banking and legal regulations, including Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standards (which encompass Visa CISP and MasterCard SDP), Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA, and California SB 1386.
“I am excited to be joining this very experienced team. I strongly believe Protegrity is in a unique position to meet the critical market demand for efficient and effective information security,” said Taylor. “The company’s software solution has been ‘reality-proven’ by major corporations including credit card and electronic payment processing companies handling millions of transactions. The new services offered by my team will complement Protegrity’s strong product offering while helping our clients further reduce risk and liability with reasonable strategies.”
Taylor holds a master’s degree and Ph.D. in organizational psychology and research methodology from Purdue University, as well as an MBA in marketing from New York University. He co-authored the book “Doing E-Business,” published by John Wiley & Sons.
