Secure.Data Delivers Innovative Data Encryption Technology and Security Policy Management to Oracle Users on Solaris, HP-UX, Windows, and IBM AIX Platforms

STAMFORD, CT – December 7, 2004 – Protegrity Corporation, the leading technology innovator for enterprise-wide database and storage security, announced today that Secure.Data, the company’s software solution for centralized management and auditing of data security policies and data encryption, now supports Oracle 9i on the Solaris, HP-UX, Windows, and AIX platforms.  Secure.Data for Oracle, Version 3, adds to the wide range of support available with Secure.Data, currently used by enterprises for securing data stored in DB2, Microsoft SQL Server, Informix, and Sybase databases.   Secure.Data also supports Oracle 8 and earlier database versions; Protegrity’s development plans include support for Oracle 10g in early 2005 .

“Protegrity has always been committed to supporting the heterogeneous enterprise infrastructure, which is the business reality for most organizations,” said Gordon Rapkin, president and CEO of Protegrity.  “Truly effective security solutions require a single point of control to define, implement, and manage data security policy enterprise wide.  Our customers rely on Protegrity to deliver consistent support across all platforms and keep pace with ever-changing IT environments.”

“In addition to its multi-platform support, Secure.Data offers important advantages over other data security solutions available for Oracle databases,” said Ulf Mattsson, Protegrity chief technology officer and a widely recognized expert in data security technology and theory.  Version 3 differentiators cited by Mattsson include:

  • Faster and more flexible searches of encrypted data.  Secure.Data’s accelerated search index eliminates the need to decrypt database tables when searching on encrypted data, resulting in dramatically faster execution than other encryption technologies.
  • Minimizes threat of database intrusion from internal sources.  Secure.Data gives organizations the ability to separate data security responsibilities from data administration.  This feature, combined with the ability to centralize the establishment, ongoing management, and auditing of security policies, adds an additional level of security and gives companies the assurance of meeting regulatory security requirements.
  • A new streamlined interface that gives companies the ability to set up and implement comprehensive, centralized security policies and auditing procedures in a single day.  Version 3 combines policy definition with IT implementation in a single, unified view – a unique approach that supports the integration of business and IT perspectives for effective security implementation.

Corporate customers implement Protegrity’s solutions to centrally define and manage enterprise database security policies and to comply with current and emerging regulations such as HIPAA, Sarbanes-Oxley, Visa’s Cardholder Information Security Program, and Master Card’s Site Data Protection program, as well as California State Bill 1386.   Secure.Data selectively encrypts sensitive data at the data-item level for database and storage security.  The solution, which incorporates patented security technology, delivers a unique combination of strong data protection and extensive auditing and management reporting capabilities, without impacting existing applications and IT infrastructure.
