Data Protection with the Google Cloud Platform

Organizations adopt cloud technologies, like Google Cloud Platform (GCP), to take advantage of the benefits of the cloud – usability, scalability, cost-savings, etc, but, despite these benefits, both real and perceived security concerns have prevented many of those entrusted with sensitive data from taking advantage of all that Google Cloud offers.

Directly controlling the protection of data as it flows in and out of GCP is vital. In this paper, we examine architecture options for data security within the GCP, ways to maximize both the security and usability of sensitive data, and what is needed to protect data at all points – including the movement of data from legacy data centers to GCP.
