THE EXPLAINER: DYNAMIC DATA MASKING AND MONITORING

2 min read • Feb 24, 2023
Summary

In the same way that there are different levels to home security, so too are there pragmatic approaches to data protection — one of which includes dynamic data masking (DDM).

DDM doesn’t alter sensitive data like tokenization, rather it masks it. DDM is suitable for data that requires a low level of protection, such as street addresses.

The idea isn’t to use DDM exclusively but to appreciate its use for certain data that, if targeted, would not reveal any identifying information.

In the Explainer: Dynamic Data Masking and Monitoring, you’ll discover:

• How DDM works well within a larger data protection plan, including data monitoring, encryption, tokenization, etc.
• The type of information that is most suitable for DDM
• The benefits of using DDM in bigger data sets
